{December 11, 2009}   Two Types of Toxins that Are Risky to Your Health

What the body regards a toxin can be one of two types — exotoxins (toxins that originate outside the body) or endotoxins (toxins that originate from within the body).

An exotoxin will be any one of thousands of industrial, agricultural or household chemical substances that we’re exposed to on a very normal basis in our everyday life. To a certain degree, we can control and limit our exposure to these types of toxins. The choices we make when we shop is one domain of our life where we can be in almost full control. More and more shops are offering good quality cleaning and personal care products that are free of toxins.

Endotoxins are much more tricky to control. These are the by-products of regular metabolic processes that occur in our body. An endotoxin can be a bodily waste product, anti-bodies our body makes to fend off infection, hormones and cellular material whose parts must be eliminated.

Most people who live in first-world areas today meet some amount of toxic overwhelm. Even though our body is fit to do the filtration and elimination of endotoxins, the body is more and more unable to deal with the raising amount of exotoxins that we take in through our beverages, food, air, cleaning products and personal care products.

As much as we may try to avoid environmental toxins, our power to do so is very problematic. The truth is, we are exposed to a massive number and assortment of toxins that are altogether foreign, if not downright harmful, to the body. Unsophisticated ways we can cut our exposure to toxins is to purchase natural, organic personal care and cleaning products, and to always purchase organic produce when available.

As well as reducing our exposure to dietary and environmental toxins, we can do a lot toward assisting the body’s normal detoxification processes. Doing a seasonal body detox program will detox your body and do much to restrict the physical load on your body that toxicity causes. Learn how to detox safely.
