{June 05, 2009}   What You Should Know before Buying Bedding – Its Fetching

It was common to have white bedding in everybodys bedroom quite some time back. You are amazed at the range of different bedding that are on offer nowadays. Bedding was never so beautiful with the vibrant colorings, prints and textures that are offered in bed sheets nowadays

Following are some factors that matter a lot when you buy a bed sheet.

Evaluate the sizing of your bed

You might think that all twin beds or king size beds measure the same, but sadly it is not so. The top proportions might be the same, but again the measurements differ with each manufacturer. Due to this divergence in the proportions, it is safe to measure all the proportions and the depth of your mattress too. Your bed could be shorter or longer than another one from the same maker. Measuring your bed will give you an idea of the sizing of your bedsheet before buying.

Decide from where to buy

Large departmental stores have a separate division for linen and bedding and offer branded sheets and in-house brands under the same roof. If you want something ethnic like embroidered or lush ones there might be a store selling what you want close by. The Internet is brimming with fresh new designs every day. In case you wish to buy regular bedding you can get a good deal at a discount rate outlet.

Familiarize yourself with thread count in bedding

The amount of threads that are present in a square inch of the sheet in back and forth direction of its weave is known as thread count. You will find this thread count on the bedsheets label. More the thread count, more is the richness of the fabric. Beware of a very high thread count as the sheet may have finer threads and not the texture you want. For the right soft feel, a thread count of 175 – 250 is fine.

Pick your bed sheet material

Take care to choose a fabric that you can afford and is cozy too. If you prefer wrinkle-free sheets then go for cotton blends or you can buy basic cotton fabrics. Flannel is warm and can be used for winters. Those who wish a casual sheet can go for satin or silk.

Caring instructions

You need to know how the bedsheet has to be cleaned prior to purchasing one. Silk bedding are lovely and romantic, but they need a weekly dry cleaning job. Do you have the time for all this? The best way is to buy comfortable sheets that can be machine washed.

Once all the above factors are taken care of, you are sure to purchase a nice and affordable bedsheet soon!
