Just a time ago it looked like powerful laptops were only being built by a few select companies and were built to order, not produced in vast numbers. They were pretty much like a small volume production line. Did not ship a large amount but generated a lot of cash on each system. The price was just too massive to justify buying these types of laptop for potential buyers. They were like the highest grade of what was possible with notebook technology, the best laptop computers about. As badly as I desired one I was unable to afford to buy laptop computers like them. I reckon things are already changing though and will continue to because the global brands are all coming into the sector.
Price wars are not common is this market so global brands could be making lots of revenue. Currently the profit margins on most notebooks are so thin that this presents a golden opportunity to regain the gross margins. Small retailers are unable compete with them in swaying people to buy laptop computers. I’m wondering what the the counter from littler manufacturers will be. I’m already witnessing some price reductions. Basically what I see taking place here is that the larger manufacturers dropping prices at first to get rid of the competition from smaller resellers. Established companies can leverage their brand names to simply win purchasers over.
To my surprise the brand name gaming laptop computers are as good if not better than the best laptop computers in the market. This would provide some hope to the littler businesses. In my opinion being able to select the parts you want will be a decision maker. Well versed in the technology, these kinds of buyers are savvy to what details to check for. Customers like these are normally more worried about the performance capabilities of a computer than they are in it’s design.
From a consumer position this is all a advantageous situation. Finally high end equipment for your cash will be the outcome for this sector. I write that a little hesitatingly though because the notebook computer market is a really fast changing market. New notebooks are continuously being released and these latest models normally go for premium prices. As the gaming notebook niche gets over crowded with large brands, the majority will utilise a wait and see approach.
